Meet the Team
Hello, everyone! We have just reached the half-year anniversary of Open Heart Games. Can you believe it?! In the past six months, we have begun two successful campaigns (Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden and Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus), hosted two Game Master Ask Me Anything (GM AMA) events via Facebook live, raised nearly 200 dollars for Extra Life, and created tons of content for our Facebook, Instagram, and of course The Heart Monitor! We hope that in the past 6 months, you feel as though you have gotten to know us. We have certainly enjoyed getting to know you all and building a community with you. So we thought we would take this opportunity to introduce ourselves once more.

Originally from Missouri, I now call Virginia home. 🏡 I have worked in the gaming industry for over a decade now! [How did that happen?!] 🎲 I am a huge Star Wars fan. ⭐ I love Tolkien and RA Salvatore (in fact, I had passages from both authors read at my wedding). 📚 Speaking of which, my wonderful wife Abigail and I have been married for 4 years now. 🎉 We are proud pet parents of a grey and white tabby named Elspeth. 🐈I have an irrational fear that when I am grocery shopping, my unguarded cart will be taken by someone who needs everything I have selected. 🙃

You can call me Abby! I am originally from Ohio (where I met Karington. . . in a castle. . .seriously) but now make my home in Virginia. 🏡 While I miss my family up north, I certainly don’t miss the weather! I am a total and complete bibliophile who enjoys reading books, collecting books, and talking about books. 📚 I also enjoy gardening and recently discovered my love of foraging (I say recently, but in all honesty, I made a dandelion tea once as a kid using only dandelion leaves and rain water—it wasn’t great). 🌱 I am still getting my feet wet in RPGs but I love board games, especially a good Euro-style or anything by Uwe Rosenberg! 🎲 I collect all things Alice in Wonderland. 🐇 And if I can’t sleep, I pop in Season 1 of “The Nanny.” Fran Drescher’s voice soothes me. 🤷♀️

I am an almost-one-year-old grey and white tabby. The humans rescued me from a storm drain when I was a wee little kitten. 🐱 I took several days of coaxing, and eventually a live-trap, but I finally consented and allowed them to bring me home. . .where I quickly became the queen of the castle. 👑 I am named after a Magic: The Gathering character but go by many nicknames, including Elsie, May-May, and Hers Purrs. I play fetch, but only with white plastic forks which I [for some reason] have decided are my favorite toy. 🍴 I love to lay in my window hammock and watch the birds as I am a strictly indoor cat. I love Tiki Cat Stix Wet Treats, chin “scritches,” playing in water, and climbing up on the kitchen table (where I am not allowed). I do not love belly rubs, stinkbugs, being left out, or when my humans are not in the same room of the house. 😽
