Open Heart Games Live-Streaming!
In case you missed it, Open Heart Games is now on Twitch! You can catch our livestream every Thursday from 8:00-11:00 pm EST. Last week, we were very pleased to be invited to join the Twitch Affiliate program, which affords us an additional revenue stream, another way to reach our fans, and another way to raise funds for our local children's hospital. A big thanks to our amazing community of gaming fans; we couldn’t have done it without your help! Huzzah!
Speaking of our fundraising goal, with the announcement of our next 12 hour marathon, we have increased our Extra Life fundraising goal to $2000, which is double our original goal for the year. An aggressive goal to be sure, but with the help of donors like you, we are sure to surpass this goal as well! As a reminder, all funds raised through Extra Life will benefit our local children's hospital, Carillion Children’s.
So how did we decide to join the streaming community, you may ask? Well it actually goes all the way back to the inception of Open Heart Games. When we founded the company, I sat down with some dear friends I had picked up from across all of the states I had lived in and began beta-testing to hone my craft and to gain familiarity with all of the programs we would be using for remote games, including Roll20, D&D Beyond, and Discord. As time went on, I kept up with this group and continued to test, tweak, and develop different ideas while running my other campaigns.
Eventually, I knew that we would want to run a live stream as a part of our big fundraiser. So I sat down with a new friend from Obelisk Productions who helped set us up on Twitch, develop our overlays, and give our stream a clean professional look. They have been fantastic to work with. When it came time to test out our stream, I looked to my beta-testing group once again to assist in testing content before the big event and as always they delivered some fantastic content by braving the legendary Tomb of Horrors. When it came time for the big event, we were ready.
When the dust from our 12 hour marathon settled, we had completely blown our goal out of the water, had a wonderful time, and only let the cat sneak into the studio once. It was magic and we had a ton of fun streaming for you, our community, who continued to show up and support us throughout the stream!
After completing our marathon, we kept on streaming every Thursday from 8pm to 11pm EST until we finished Tomb of Horrors. After that, I had a pang of nostalgia and looked to the first module I had run in D&D 5th Edition which was Tyranny of Dragons. This big damn heroes adventure has the players tromping all over the Sword Coast in order to stop a fiendish cult from bringing about the cataclysmic return of Tiamat, the Queen of evil dragons, and the end of the world. So what can you expect from watching our play-through of Tyranny of Dragons? I will be sure to pepper in our stream with wit, witticisms, and my own sage advice from my experiences running the module and lessons I have learned. Be sure to tune in every week from 8pm to 11pm EST as Open Heart Games presents the Tyranny of Dragons in STUNNING 3D!! (Too much?)
